no. a lot of people like Vista more, a lot of people prefer XP.
Is it harder to use?
depends on the ap. Speech recognition in Vista is better,
what i spent $700 to try to do in XP with Dragon Naturally
Speaking Pro, Vista just does.
i find Vista harder to use, but i'm still learning it. i didn't
have that experience when switching to XP, i found it to
be very intuitive right away.
with XP, i never had to read the instruction manual. with
Vista, i'm having to ask a lot more questions, about how to
turn off un-needed features.
i like the "sleep" feature in Vista, but that might be a
hardware integration issue. XP might have the same
feature; i just haven't noticed it after using XP for 3
years.
Its sucked at first, but after about 5-6 hours of playing with it, I like it. Not that much diff. than XP once you figure out where some basic things are.

On the normal terms of daily tasks, its not much different. Of course you may have to hunt down apps that were normal here, but are now there, and all, but not much different.
On the enthusiast side and heavy gaming, there may be driver issues and whatnot. If your considering to buy, right now isnt a good time. There still is alot of updating and patching needed.
Im running the 64bit and havent had a single driver issue with anything. My only complaint is I cant view anything that requires flash player because they dont have a 64bit driver for flash player yet.

Been running V64 for the last 6 months, and have yet to find an actual app or game that didn't work. The exception was that my anti-virus program had to be replaced with a compatible version - Which was available at the time anyways - and the fact that Vista64 nukes shareware for unsigned digital certificates. I was able to find drivers for everything (see info for list) except my Belkin wireless router. But I plugged the cable in just to see, and Vista's generic stuff works perfectly.
About the worst part of the experience was my DRM files decided they were on a different machine.... So I had to re-burn my CD's, and re-download the stuff I bought online. That took a few days to finish: Props to the Plextor SATA optical drive - burned over 200 CD's in one day with no audible errors.
