I have this expression before , "Blue screen of DEATH" but what does it mean.

As it is now , I was working on my computer (Windows xp sp2) and doing dual tasting on my Core 2 duo 6320 with 1 GB single slot . I have 2 HDD both seagates one older 300g and one newer 400g. I have running a video and working on Excel, when suddenly I hear a "Clonk" sound from the computer, along with a short blue screen flash with white letters , all my data wasn;t saved. Is it time to re-install my windows , or is my HDD broken ? After I restart
everything is fine and the computer seems to work again, never knowing when it might happen again ,

Please advise thank you

Yes that is BSOD
Are you overclocking? could indict instability if you are. It could just one software not interacting well with another... or it could be time for a new computer. all depends
