More Information

I dont know if there have been other posts regarding this, if so i couldnt find them, and whould like a link if anyone have. anyways down to buisness.

First problem is. Efter windows is done booting and i have logged in and ready to begin work. i cant select the start bar and if i open any program and click on the window with my mouse it looses focus. i can get around this problem in two ways, 1 is by alt tabbing once, and the second is by alt+ctrl+del and then close task manager. and i have controle again. Ive looked for adware ect with AVG antivirus program, ive use Sysinternals to see if there where any process there which i couldnt id ect ect, but no luck.

Second problem, they might be related or they might not have any thing to do with eachother at all. is the ive lost my drag'n drop functionality. i can select files/folders and drag them to another place but when i release the moues button, nothing happens, tryed both with right and left moues button, no luck. ive googled the problem and found a few "solutions" som regarding fixes to the reg and others simply enabling and disabling various function in windows. and nothing worked so far.

So if any out there have found a solotion or have had simillar problems please make a reply to this post. not realy in the mood for a reinstall.

Try a Windows Repair off the CD and if that doesn't work, likely will have to reinstall. Looks like someway or another Windows got corrupted. Be sure to back up your data

Restore your drag and drop type this in the run each line seperate I had this problem and this commands worked can be found at msdn library
Click Start, Run and type these commands:

cmd /c ftype batfile="%1" %*
cmd /c assoc .bat=batfile
regsvr32 /i shell32.dll

Start try this should help

First, login as Administrator (or equivalent) and execute this command from Start, Run dialog:

regsvr32 /i shell32.dll

Restart Windows. If that does not help, inspect and fix the the Shell Folder data for Start Menu, Programs, Common Start Menu and Common Programs.

NOTE: Backup the Registry before modifying it. See this page for more information on backing up the registry keys.

Typing REGEDIT.EXE in the Start, Run dialog. Fix the data for these four registry values: (The defaults can be taken from the UserShellFolders page.)

Under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

Common Start Menu
Common Programs
Under HKEY_CURRENT_USER

Start Menu
Programs
If Common Programs value is not available in the right-pane, create a new REG_EXPAND_SZ value named Common Programs and assign the data as said above. Restart Windows for the changes to take effect.

Well i solved my problem.

I tryed a windows repair, where it turned out my CD contained errors, luckly i had a Ghost i made from the previous install, just where i had it all up and running without problems. and funny enuf when i reghosted my system the problems where still there, both the desktop and the drag'n drop problem.

So i desided against all my logic to swtich my mouse with another one and bingo the problem where gone.

so all in all, even though i could navgate play games ect ect, it was still my mouse which caused the problem.

Thanks for all the help.
