Windows Update Reloading?

I need help! I go to the Windows Update website and it just keeps reloading itself. I disabled active scripting then I got the page but it said I should add it to the trusted websites. I did then I just got the same thing. It kept redirecting. This is a VM, by the way. I looked in my avast real-time scanner on my host PC and it said something about redirect.js
I am running Windows 98 FE. Please help!

The Windows update site for Windows 98 was disabled years ago. . .

It's still there. It just hasn't been updated in years.

Really? I last tried 4 years ago or so and it was dead, but I need to recreate my Windows 98SE VM so i will try again. . .

I was on it about three months ago from a physical Windows 98 computer. It's (surprisingly) still up but I did once encounter the same problem as OP.

OP, Try a different browser if you are using IE 4.

Then you shouldn't have many problems trying to do so. At the moment I can't think of why it would do that.
