I have a new system on the way which is going to be used primarily for video editing, with a little bit of gaming.

Intel Q6600
Geforce 8800GT 512mb
2gig DDR-800

How much slower, if any, is Vista for Applications like Premiere, Media Composer, After Effects, Photoshop, DivX rendering etc... ?

Media Composer isn't even supported on Vista. It might run, but there's no guarantee.. and the rate Avid release new features I wouldn't expect it to be supported for some time.
