Can't install Windows 98 (again)

Set the BIOS to boot from the CD-ROM; inserted an original Windows 98 upgrade. Restarted but erro msg sys "Invalid System Disk".
Cleaned the laser on CD drive. Same error.
Ditto using several other CD's
Any help appreciated. RWP

  1. You don't boot directly from a 98 upgrade disk. You either have to boot into the OS you want to upgrade or boot a floppy with CD drivers on it.
  2. That or get a complete CD.
  3. There's also a chance there's another disk "interfering" with the bootup. If your floppy-drive is higher up in the boot-order, and you also have a floppy in there, take it out.
