When I try to install Windows XP from the cd my computer keeps wanting to boot from the cd instead of trying to install windows. Instead of hitting a key and booting from the cd I let the computer try to boot to the hard drive and install windows but it keeps reverting back to the cd. I have changed the boot sequence in the bios but it still wants to boot from the cd and start the install process all over again from the cd. Is there something I am doing wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you are booting from the CD, then Windows should install. If you're booting to the hdd, it won't. Is Windows currently installed? Did you build the machine or is it prebuilt? A friend of mine has an older Dell and to get it to boot from the CD he has to hit an F key, I think it's either F10 or F12, not sure but found it in the manual that came with the machine

Dont touch the keyboard the promp says, press a key to boot from cd.
second, after the files are copied and the system reboots go to bios and change boot order if you need to.
or the above
