I am trying to install Guildwars on my new laptop which is running vista ultimate 64-bit. I am trying to install in to the default directory c:\program files (x86)\guildwars and I keep getting an error message that says

The installer could not write guild wars to the specified directory. Please check that you have administrative access, that you have permission to install the program in the specified directory, and that there is sufficient space on the drive.

There is definitely space on the drive and I am the only account on the computer and I have administrative rights. In addition I tried a different directory c:\guildwars and that did not work either. The only things that I have changed is need for constant elevation. I have set permission for everything to install without needing permission to elevate.

Any thoughts on why it will not work would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the help. Still trying to get the hang of Vista. How would I set vista so that everything runs as an adminsitrator?

It won't let you set that for everything, since unwanted software (Trojans, etc) would enjoy the same priveledges.
