basicly, I built this system a week ago and installed Windows Xp and Vista (same hard drive - different partitions. The problem was that I mistakenly did so as IDE designation. So, this weekend I formatted the drive and configured SATA as AHCI - Attemtped to install Windows XP using the ICH9 ACHI Drivers (per ASUS Website & conversely directly from Intel too). I get a messsage and a reboot after first (normal) reboot.
The message the best that I can read says something about not enough virtual memory. Also - intermittently - an alternate message may appear in place of the other - which says something to the nature of - windows was attempting to access a volume that was unmounted.
The funny part of all of this is, eventually I gave up trying to install WinXp on the system and just re-installed Vista Ultimate (same hard drive on partion 2). Vista had no problems installing itself, and didn't need/want the drivers. Vista is still installed and working fine, but I still can't get WinXP on this system.
I realize that all that I have said has been a little abstract, however, if you think you may have some ideas and need more information please ask I will provide what information I can.
