XP Problem with Boot

More Information

My machine recognizes either two operating systems on one drive/partition (which I don't think is it), or two boot sequences at startup. Here's the boot.ini

Quote :

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Windows XP Professional"
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

I'm using the one titled "Windows XP Professional", since it works. How do I get rid of the other one, do I just delete the second line, this one:

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

Could anyone help me?

*bump* can someone please confirm this by checking their own boot.ini ?

Just delete the one you don't want and it will boot right in w/o that prompt to choose.

You should make a copy of the boot.ini file and save it someplace you can get to before you make changes, just incase.

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(3)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional" /fastdetect
