Now you have the xpsp2 installed, you go to microsoft update and discover there are close to 100 updates. This should help wiff that update.

Actually, that's wrong. The security ISOs only give seven or eight hotfixes in 20 different languages, for different OSs, that's why they are so big. The compilation made by RyanVM is much more effective, although it's dated june 2007. Others use HFSLIP to track the hotfixes. The truth is we are all waiting for SP3. For the slipstreaming fans, that will solve a lot of time and problems.
