Hello

I've had this happening to me on and off for a while now, maybe once or twice a week. Randomly, one icon on my desktop will become pixelated. I find it really odd because I've never heard of this or seen this happen to anyone before and when I look it up I find nothing on the subject. Anyway, here's a cropped screenshot of some of the icons on my desktop; in this case, Firefox is pixelated.

Ok, now that you've seen that, anyone know what it could be? My first guess was that it was my video card (somehow, I'm mainly a geek, not an expert heh)... but that was disproved when I got my 8800GTS a couple months ago.

Oh, if you're wondering, I can temporarily fix the problem. All I have to do is right click the icon > Properties > and change the icon from the default pic to another, then change it back. Kinda weird if you ask me, but it works until another icon goes like that. And it's not always the same icons either; I've had it happen to IE, Firefox, iTunes, etc etc.

It's not really a big deal, just a bit annoying ^^

So anyone know?

Check your color quality setting. Most likely should be set to 32-bit.

I have started having this occur on my laptop. Maybe once a day I'll notice one of them.
It's a T-61 thinkpad with and nvidia quadro nvs 140m for the graphics
I am running xp home SP2 and can make it go away for a short period of time by switching the icon like posted earlier.
Firefox seems to be the one that goes most often but I also use it the most so maybe I just see it more.

Here is a jpeg of a cropped screen shot. The firefox on my desktop is fine but in my start menu its pixilated.

Any tips let me know...

Mine actually vanish completely (well they are still there but completely invisible) Just a space for the odd icon. If I double click where the Icon is supposed to be it still opens the shortcut as normal. Happens to me often when PC runs low on processor and RAM. I also have to edit properties and change to another pic and back to make it reappear. Even a reboot doesnt fix it.

Atleast you can still see where yours are.
