Dear All,

I've bought a handheld ppc that will be used by my operator in the
processing area.
My concern is I feel that the device is too complicated for them to utilize.
So I want to simplify the features there, which means I need to
uninstall some existing programs such as Calendar, Contacts, Messaging, etc.

How to unistall the programs, since I'm new comer in the ppc environment?

Thanks

Robert,
As the programmes you mention are part of the O/S, and are located on
the ROM, they are unable to be 'uninstalled' as with 3rd party
programmes. There are system registry tweeks, but are not for novices.
However, a novice can basically hide them from the shortcuts menus, but
they are always available to enquiring types in PROGRAMS. Best have
faith in your operators, they may be not as simple as you think!!
Bill...........;-)

Usually the concern is not "the device is too complicated", but rather
there are applications the IT guys would rather lock the users out of.

Personally, if your concern really is "its too complicated", I'd try to
go without locking these apps out, and see if you can. It's hard to
believe that you couldn't train your operators to bring up your
application swith less than an hour of training, or maybe even a well
designed instruction sheet handout. In fact, you can remap your buttons
to the applications, so all they would have to do is hit one button to
run each application. If they play around with other apps, and get the
PPC into some weird state, they can hit the soft reset button, and then
hit the button that brings up the application they need.

You can never foolproof lockout all these programs, since they are built
in to the OS and will be reinstalled on a hard reset.

That said, you might want to try out

I haven't used the app, but I've heard it spoken well of. They have a
trial version, which you get to from the download button. It runs about
$1000 bucks for 100 licenses.
