Is it possible to create a shorcut on the desktop as the way ordinary pc
is? and how?

There are many ways this can be done from the today screen (Desktop)
with 3rd party programmes, such as:

http://www.sbsh.net/products/ilauncher2/

Or by tapping the windows logo (Start), top LHS, you can reveal a
cusomisable shortcuts list (Limit of 7) that is inbuilt into the O/S,
which I presume is 2003SE. Tap START>SETTINGS>MENUS and select those you
want to be shortcuts from this list.
