Recommendations For Data Recovery

Hi. I need to recover data off two hard drive that both have similiar problems. So far, I found a program that works called Stellar Phoenix Data Recovery NTFS, but its expensive: $80 just to get a Product Key, and $100 to get the product mailed to you.

if anyone could recommend any other software, I'd appreciate it. it can be freeware, or trialware or pay-only, I'd just like some alternatives before committing to the above price tag.
