Hi,

I have installed Ubuntu 9.04 Kernel version 2.6.28-11.
I access broadband internet through Ethernet Card connected to ADSL Modem.
I did an exhaustive search in Linux forums and tried the following ways to configure eth0 and ADSL modem, but did not succeed. at last seeking your help! :)
Did lot of exercise to configure and bring up my ethernet card. Nothing worked.

I edited interface file in the area /etc/network as
auto eth0
iface eth0 inet static
address 192.168.3.90
gateway 192.168.3.1
netmask 255.255.255.0
network 192.168.3.0
broadcast 192.168.3.255.

did not work out. Tried to bring up the Ethernet eth0 using command
ifconfig eth0 up , did not work as well.

Also tried using GUI, there are lots of options Wired, Wireless, MobileBroadbad, VPN and DSL.
Under wired chose eth0 and in Routers tab provided ipaddress, gateway, subnet mask. still not able to connect.

Network status says Wired connection is not connected, you are working offline.

Please help me out. I need to have internet access through Ubuntu for future upgrades and to install some Ubuntu applications.

Thanks,
