Ntdetech failed

My compaq has failed. Don't know anything about laptops. Need help please.
I have a compaq2000.
When trying to start it it blinks this.
Invalid boot .ini.file
Booting from c\windows\
NTDetech failed.
Can someone tell me what should be my next move.

You need to boot from the W2K or NT CD and repair the boot files. You should then reinstall the last service pack if is not already installed on your CD.
