What processor to pick? need your opinion

Hi guys, with the aproaching release of the bearlake chipset and the Wolfdale C2D i'm thinking of building a gaming PC in this summer. What troubles me is what processor should i get?. I'm thinking of waiting for one of the Wolfdale proccessors but with the price drops of the quad cores they are tempting. Other thing i'm keeping in mind is that most aplications and games don't take advantage of the extra cores so maybe i wont get much extra processing power from the quad cores.

What are your thoughts guys?

Impossible to tell you. Need more info:

-what's your budget?
-how long can you wait to upgrade?
-what applications will you be doing?
-how long do you plan on keeping this upgrade?

etc, etc. The vast majority of people won't need a quad. Not to mention you better have some VERY good cooling for that CPU. Most programs don't use the power of a quad, let alone any games.

my budget is about $1500, i can wait to upgrade to september, i mostly do some gaming and some programming aplications like JBuilder, Visual.Net, etc.
