I just spent the last half hour trying to boot my machine and every time I hit the power button, the
machine's fans would start and the HDD would whirl but the monitor's lights would turn orange and go into sleep mode. This has happened before on my old computer but I built this computer from scratch so the problem might be related to the fact I usually keep it on for 3-5 days. After I start it and all I see are orange lights coming from my monitor, the only way to restart it is to pull the power plug or turn off the power supply and turn it back on, then hit the computer's power button. I usually do this four times before the monitor's lights turn green and I see the post screen. I have a Striker Extreme board and the LED display on the back says DET DRAM when the system fails to boot and it simply displays the time when the computer is in the windows environment.
Being that this has happened with the same version of XP Home I think I might switch to Vista and the problem will go away. I'd love to turn off the computer more regularly but for now I'll probably just put it into sleep mode until I sort this problem out.
Love any feedback.

Usually monitors dont need drivers but yours may.
First try to goto device manager and delete your monitor driver then reboot
Windows will auto put in drivers at boot.
That should fix it and then you can adjust settings to your likings.
If not you may need to goto the monitors maker to get some drivers
PS you didnt mention your monitor type so ???
