I am selling my old Athlon X2 system to a neighborhood kid. I don't have anything too crazy on here. Just old tax returns and work related stuff. I am not in the FBI or CIA. I just want to overwrite the system once to make sure nothing gets out there. I don't really need to use DBAN to nuke the whole system and don't want to have to reinstall everything-I am going to sell it with preloaded software.

I downloaded Eraser which was no problem on my old XP computer. I try to run it on my system. It is telling me I need elevated privleges..I am the only user on the system and I log in with a password....

I am tired of this crap. I tried a few months ago to mod my system and couldn't figure it out..is there any way
I can just get rid of this security/admin stuff once and for all so I will be able to do it on my new system and this one too?

Solution
Right click the icon for the app. Go into Properties - choose the Security tab, click Edit (in the middle), and set what you want.

You can also right click the icon and Run As Administrator.
