I've tried O&O defrag, and it seems does a simple job, moving blocks from end to begining, to fill the holes. I mean if I scan through the blocks, they seems contain random data.
Wouldnt it be better if defrag was putting related data, like from same folder, in continuous block array? In my theory this would greatly improove read times, when loading games etc..
I wonder if such tech exist, and what defrag feature it? or would that matter overall?
Maybe access metheod in O&O does something similar, but I'm not certain.
According to the FAQ on the O&O website, their defragmentation product offers 5 ways of defragmenting, including:
"COMPLETE/Name organizes all files according to filename and directory position. For example, all files that are in the directory Windows/System 32 will be placed next to each other on the hard disk. This method is particularly recommended for system partitions on Windows workstations."
