Last year I installed Windows XP Home. I never wrote down the activation number.
If I need to reinstall the Windows on the same machine, do I have to have the activation
number? Please excuse me if this is a dumb question.

Thanks

If nothing has changed on your PC (hardware, etc) it won't matter. No, you don't need to write down that activation number, it will assign a new on to you... and as long as nothing has changed, it will activate just fine.

If not, just give them a call and they'll give you one. It only takes like 5 minutes. (I've had to do this like 4 times last year >_< )

When asked to activate it, click on On Line Activation. If it doesn't activate, a phone number will pop up, just call that number.
