Hi everybody.

I just built a new PC for my brother with scavenge part from older PC. I put in an A64 3000+ socket 939, an Asus X1950Pro, Winfast 761GXK8MB mobo, 512MB mem (to be upgrade shortly), a 440W Enermax modular PSU (with 2x20A, combine 30A 12V rail) and an old 80GB HDD. Just enough to play some old games and newer ones with more memory.

I started installing Windows XP. I first did a reformat from WXP cd of my HDD after which XP copied some files to it. It then said it was gonna restard after 15 seconds that went by and restart after. It asked to press a key to
restard from the CD but I didn't and the install should have kept on going on from there. But the screen just stayed black with no activity going on at all. No beep, no restart, no CD spinning, but all fan running. I restart a few time, even restard the install always with the same result. Everything goed fine until the first restart happen.

Can anybody give me a clue on what might have been wrong? I looked a bit on google but got nothing.

Thanks in advance.

Do you have a hdd set to boot from in the list of boot devices? I have seen where people have changed the 1st boot device to cd-rom but didn't place a hard drive as the second or even third device.
