I'm looking to assemble a new computer and figure I'll be grabbing Vista Home Premium. I have a few questions that I'd like to resolve before getting into it, and I'd love to get your input.
How much drive space does Vista take?
How does Vista handle swap files? I currently have a partition for an XP swap file and I don't know if I should carry over the same practice for Vista. I'll be using 4 gigs of RAM, for what it's worth.
Does Vista deal with partitions like XP? Should I backup my data elsewhere and start from scratch or just use the partitions I already have, assuming they are of the correct size to handle Vista in the first place?
I'd additionally like to know what your experiences are with running RAID 1 arrays in Vista. I had such an array for a month or so in XP, but it kept degrading mysteriously, which I later learned was likely due to XP and not the drives or the motherboard.
I'd also like to know whether or not Vista needs to sit on drive C as did all previous versions. I tend to run partitioned drives to handle Photoshop scratch files and such, and it pays to have them on the inside of the disk as I understand it if possible.
