Ok, so I have long been a fan of Nero and for good reason.

But since I am getting a new rig with Vista, I was looking at the latest version of Nero and what is Vista compatible.

Well, although Version 8 is and I've not heard of any real problems with it running on Vista, I think many have issues with Version 8 as a whole, regardless of the OS.

I've read that it is extremely bloated and very invasive to the OS.

Since I can get a deal for only $65, I was thinking of getting it and ONLY installing the core burning software, not all of the other kaka it comes with.

That said, has anyone tried just that and how does it work?

If not, what is considered the best-of-breed burner now for Vista?

Thanks!

Ahhh I already have Nero 7 and like it but heard (read) that for some reason it didn't work well with Vista.

If it does, then I'm already happy with what I have!

Thanks

The original Nero 7 didn't work with Vista. Ahead has since updated it, so if you have Nero 7 working on Vista - I'd stick with that if you don't need the new features of version 8.

Yeah, I use 7 on both 64 and 32-bit systems without a problem. I had the original release of Nero 7, and it wouldn't work at all on either 32 or 64-bit Vista. Had to download the updated version from Nero and I haven't had a single problem since.
