More Information

I'm currently attempting to install Windows XP Media Center edition on a new computer. I formatted the harddirve using NTFS (not quick), but when I actually went to set up windows, I received the message that Windows was already installed, and that I would be deleting over it.

The first thing I did was to reformat the harddrive, figuring that there may have been an error in the initial format. One reformat later, and I receive the same error message. This time, I attempted to install windows by deleting the 'current' version of windows off of the harddrive. After this was completed and the computer rebooted, I still got the message 'there is a current version of windows on your machine'. Just to be thorough, I attempted to delete the 'current' version of windows again. Same error.

Now I am attempting a reformat again, but I am sensing something is wrong.
