I would recommend taking the person in question to a Cingular store and
let them exercise their individual preference.

OK, you should be looking for a phone that is easy for the person to operate
(regardless of button size) and that has a plug for a headset. NONE of the
cell phones would be loud enough by themselves to compensate for limited
hearing, though some nokia models are louder than others. But you can get
amplified headsets for most cell phones. Those amplified headsets ARE loud
enough. They just require a compatible cell phone. You can also buy a
headset amplifier separately, if you like a particular (non-amplified)
