hi everybody, a friend wanted to build a 2500$ gaming system but i suggested to build a 1500$ gaming system and leave 1000$ for upgrades when new things will be released, so now i want your advices about that config

i suggested:

core 2 duo E6600 (enough power for actual games)

evga 8800gts 640mo

asus P5k3 deluxe (when it will be released)

corsair 2x1gb xms DDR2 800mhz

i need your help for the rest (he wants an eye catching case, and plz don't sacrify the quality and the solidity of the case, so a good balance between eye catching and quality is really appreciated)

ps: he will buy parts from newegg ;)

thank you

Solid base, here are my humble suggestion, and mind you, I really only built 1 system (my current one) but I am very diligent.

Case:

I am a firm believer in Aspires cases, and the Cruiser went up in price, so take the step up to a full tower and it has a re-moveable MB tray.

Motherboard:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6813128044

I love this MB, Gigabyte has great boards, and this one is an easy over clocker, and out preforms some of the 680i MBs.

CPU:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6819115003

Easy choice, but look out further, June 22nd this CPU drops almost 50%, if you can hold off, you get this at 130.00 some, or for the same price, the Q6600

Memory:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6820134066

Memory is shooting down in price, there are a lot of good 2 gig packages in this range. CL is 4, it runs rock steady at 4-4-4-12 with out being OCed. I personally am running this and not had one single problem.

Video Card:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6814130071

8800 GTS, simple, EVGA's step up program, and high resolutions make this a great steal. If you go smaller on your LCD, go with the 320 meg version and save some bucks

PSU:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6817139002

Easy choice, this PSU is way under rated, steady as a rock, and 50 amps on the 12v rail. They say it's under rated by at least 100 watts. Rock solid PSU.

LCD:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6824112009

Big Screen, great response time and good reviews. No DVI cable included though. This LCD sit right at the 8800gts 320's limits, so I suggested the 640meg version.

Hard Drives:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6822148144

2x Seagates, 250 gigs, fast, perpendicular recording, solid and steady. Raid 0 hello.

DVD-Drive:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6827136117

DVD burner, lots to choose from, brand and make is a matter of opinion.

CPU Cooler:

Keep it cool while you ramp it up!

assuming you have an OS. This is pretty close to your range, with the cuts coming, it's about 100.00 cheaper, good rebates, the EVGA step up program.
