Can anyone please help me? i have an msi neo2-fr and an E2160, and a WD sata 320gb hdd

the thing is, when trying to clean install XP Pro or home onto my sata drive, i get a BSOD right before the OS starst installing, and right after loading all the drivers onto wherever...

what do i do???

It's a pci.sys error, and there isn't anything in any of the pci slots; just the gfx card (gecube HD 3870), and if i take that out, then obviously i won't be able to see anything :(

all help in resolving this would be appreciated...

Use one DIMM of RAM in slot 1 only. In Bios set the memory voltage and timings to Mfg. Specs.

Often this is related to RAM timings or voltage problems as suggested above. Make sure your RAM doesn't require 2.1-2.2v instead of the usual defaulted 1.8v.

Try one thing at a time before moving on to something else. Now, if the problem is indeed w/ SATA drivers, find some kind of boot disk with the SATA drivers on them and use them when prompted before the install.

Also, yes, right after install you can insert your second stick of RAM and go back to using dual-channel. During install though, you want the least amount of hardware installed for the least amount of problem. :)
