How to connect net to back track

i am trying to connect net to my back track which is a live bootable cd but i can not connect to the net.Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sorry, need more information. like what the actual PROBLEM is! Saying "help xxx wont work!!!" wont help us know whats going on!

At the (root) command prompt type...
/etc/init.d/networking start

If that doesn't work we'd need a full machine spec; I presume you have checked that your hardware is supported by BackTrack?

i had got this error after entering /etc/init.d/networking start
touch : cant touch '/var/run/network/initialized ' permission denied

You need to run it as root. So you'd need to type:

sudo /etc/init.d/networking start
!
