I'm with that suggestion. I'm upgrading end of the month and the 8600's just don't come near the X1950PRO because of the 128bit that the 8600 has vs. 256bit.

hi all, the reason im going with the 8600 gts is it is only an interim solution until i build new pc and will then buy 8800gtx or the like and this card will end up in a htpc which will be built around the same time because of its hd capabilities hence why not buying x1950 . the reason a new card is because his x800xl has died. will i get much of a performance boost with new card? thanks in advance

The x1950 pro supports HD output aswell

"Radeon X1950 Pro - PCI Express x16 - 256 MB GDDR3 - Digital Visual Interface (DVI) ( HDCP ) - HDTV out / video in "

full H.264 decode acceleration with the 8600 gts though, which not even the 8800 has i think, might be wrong
