Hi all!
I'm having a very weird problem. I seem to have misplaced 15gb. They just gone, filled with nothing. I am running a 160 gb harddisk in an Acer Aspire 5920G with Vista Ultimate installed. It shows up as 149gb in all, fair deal, I know some is "lost" because of the conversion between byte/kilobyte and so on. That's not being the issue here.
The disk consist of 2 partitions, one on 69.7gb and one on 66.2gb. Besides that there is something I don't fully understand, which is what looks like 2 other, smaller partitions of 9,76gb (says something about EISA-configuration) and another one called primary partition. The last two only shows up under computer administration -> disk handling (I am running the danish version of Vista, please excuse my english and the bad translations ^^) Anyways, this is not the problem either, as it has been that way since I got the computer.
The issue is that my first partition (69.7gb) only has 700mb left. The funny thing is that there is only 55.7gb stuff on it, so I have 15gb which apparently is gone. I have no idea whatsoever what they are used on, and I have double checked every possibility. I have the option to view hidden folders on, and with everything on the partition included, it says that there is 55.7gb used, but still only 700mb left. However, if I rightclick the partition itself under "Computer", it says that there is 69gb used. Windows is installed on this partition, and I did include the installation of that too.
The other partition has 63.5gb used, with 2.7gb left. This shows up accurately anywhere I look.
I might be missing something here, but I feel very confused. It'd be great if someone could shead light on this mystery, and even better, if you could help me recover my 15gb.
I am having the same type of problem. My 500gb drive with vista ult as well shows up as 465 gb with 366gb free, but when I open the drive and add everthing up it only comes to about 40gb. I should have another 60gigs. And btw yes I did show the hidden folders

Did you remember to turn off Hide Protected Operating System Files?
If you don't do that, there are a slew of files that are not included in the total, including your swap file and if I recall correctly, your Restore Points.

I forgot that. Doing so brought me up to 59gb, so a bit closer but no cigar. There is still 10gb missing. As for restore points and so on, it's all on DVDs.
