Dvd ROM DRIVE DOESNT PLAY cd aUDIO OR rEAD dATA DISC

My DVD ROM doesnt read cd audio discs or data discs. There are a list of things I have gone through and still haven't found a solution. Maybe you can help me. I have a compaq 5420 US Presario Desktop with a DVD Rom internal drive that is LTD-122 model number. The driver is updated. And it runs an AMD ATholon Processor 1700 1.47GHz, 512MB RAM, 15.3 GB HD Maxtor with CD Writer HP 9111 and 4 USB ports USB 1.0. Its Video is S3 Prosavage Driver 32mb of RAM but it is originally a S3 Savage4 AGP 3D 8MB. Audio is ADI Sound Max.

Fixes Tried:
Uninstalled the Device
Reinstalled it Using Hardware Wizard?
Updated the Driver
Uninstalled the Secondary IDE Channel Driver
Flashed the CD with Firmware IL6J
Flashed the CD with Firmware GHR3 (Real Mode)
Installed WinDVD
Microsoft Updates Specific
Windows Updates for Windows 2000 Full
Run the autoexec.bat and config.sys edit
Restored X COPY from DVD Drive DVD Media Only
Check It Diagnostics
Bit Standard Diagnostics
Full Trouble Shooter Info?
Diagnostic on DvD CD Media
Updated the COdecs with Codec Pacs Most Popular and Win 2000
Gone through the Fixing CD and DVD errors Troubleshooter from
Microsoft through step 6 (software free? was the vga diagnosis correct?)
Direct X install 9.0c
Reformatted the USB Drive for potential conflicts
Downloaded RealPlayer for possible codec compatibility
Test Play Classical for addition codec updates
Latest Version of WMP for WIn2000 with Updates and Codec Update
No Codec Update individual yet.
Drive Busy while its trying to read this is recognized But no Disc in Drive error in WMP
Event ID 51 Error detected on device \Device\CDRom0\ during a paging operation
Removable Drive CD Rom LTD 122 error which is not a removable drive.
Scanned CD Rom DRive for viruses 4 x.

I am stumped what could it be?

Do ANY discs work at all? If not, then just replace the drive.
