Ubuntu 10.04 on ThinkPad T60

When I use the build-in wireless card (intel), video always needs to be buffered. However, if I switch to an add-on wireless card (linksys), video runs smoothly.

Everything (OS, browser, router, video clip) is the same except the wireless card. Is that a known issue for intel wireless card running linux?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

TIA

  1. Wireless in general tends to be an issue with Linux. Wireless chipset manufacturers don't like releasing Linux drivers or source code, so we are responsible for reverse-engineering the drivers and trying to make them work. But I digress.

Your best bet would be finding a wireless card that uses a chipset that has Linux drivers. A google search will yield numerous sites explaining what to look for. I assume your laptop's Intel wireless card is mini-PCI, so I'm sure you can find a replacement that will work :)

    Good luck
