Wireless in general tends to be an issue with Linux. Wireless chipset manufacturers don't like releasing Linux drivers or source code, so we are responsible for reverse-engineering the drivers and trying to make them work. But I digress.
Your best bet would be finding a wireless card that uses a chipset that has Linux drivers. A google search will yield numerous sites explaining what to look for. I assume your laptop's Intel wireless card is mini-PCI, so I'm sure you can find a replacement that will work
