ok guys - thought I'd ask this question as I can;t seem to find info anywhere else...

ok - so if I have my RAM set 2:1 with my processor for overclocking and mny FSB is 300, isn't my ram (DDR2 800) running well below spec? I don't really want to go for a higher overclock than this on my FSB, so can I tighten the timings on the ram to increase performance that way? could I raise the multiplier on the ram instead?

BTW I have an E4300 and Geil ultra low latency DDR2 800 (2x1gig matched)

thanks in advance
Sam

Are you overclocking your FSB to 600 with 2:1 to bring the memory down to 300? I didn't think you could go that high but I suppose anything is possible.

I'll assume you're actual FSB is 300 (overclocked from 266)
If your FSB:Mem is 2:1 you're actually clocking your memory at only 150.
You should set it to 1:1 (2.0) and bring the memory up to 300 which would make it effectively DDR2 600.

DDR2 800 should handle that with no problems and you should be able to tighten the timings a little too.

sorry, that it was I meant - my mem:fsb is 2:1 = 600

you think I could tightent the timings a little at this speed? what about raising the ratio so my memory is running faster?

So 1:2 then?

If your memory is being clocked at 600 that seems kinda high to me.
That put's it at DDR2 1200 speed so it's exceeding it's rating already.
I'd say if it's stable you're doing well.

But don't take my word for it. I'm kida a noob at this stuff.
DDR2 533 is rated to run at 266MHz FSB
DDR2 800 = 400 FSB
DDR2 1066 = 533 FSB

sorry - i know I'm not doing a very good job of explaining this. 2 is the lowest multiplie available on my board - my mem is running at DDR2 600 speeds

OK. I get it. Sorry I was just confused.
2.0 = 1:1 (or so I've read elsewhere)
FSB = Memory clock

Yeah 1:1 is the best you can do but you should be able to tighten the timings a bit with DDR2-800. Probably lower the CL by 1.
