I have a laptop running Windows Vista Home Premium. Lately something must have happened because I can't install new software nor can I remove software. When I try to install a program, Windows Installer delivers a Pop-up message informing me that "another instance of Windows Installer is currently running. Wait for that installation to complete, then try again." The problem is, I don't have any other installations running that I am aware of. I reboot and it still won't go away. I have tried looking in Task Manager under processes and can't see any indication of msiexec.exe running in the background. So how do I view what is going on and how do I stop whatever is being installed so I can start with a new installation?

Thanks
