I have an Excel file on a shared network drive. When it is being edited by someone it shows "locked for editing by company name" . How do i make this message show the actual user who is locking the file?

I may be wrong, but I think the user name being reported is that set up in Excel (ie. the name entered when Excel was first set up). It looks like all your copies of Excel are set up with the Company name rather than the individual user names. If you want a meaningful message you are going to have to personalize your copies of Excel.

Of course, as PhilFrisbie says, the network administrator can look at the open files on the server to see which user has them open, but I'm guessing you want the users to be able to see who has the file open when they get this message.
