Sorry if this is the wrong place I wasn't sure where it should go.
I recently built my own computer and everything works swimmingly, with one exception. I don't actually have a soundcard but rather use the onboard motherboard sound which is fine with me, it's an Asus P5Q Pro motherboard and so uses the (Acer) Realtek HD Audio Manager for managing speakers, microphone and headphones.
It's an ok little program and ok to use, but there is one major problem that makes me want to assault the nearest person. When I plug a Mic in the front panel it recognises it and it works, it also tells me when the mic has been unplugged which is fine. The Headphones on the front panel work fine when plugged in but when I unplug them it doesn't realise, even right now it thinks the headphones are plugged in even though I got angry and threw them to Narnia and as such I can only play sound through my speakers because i've told it not to mute the Back panel when something is in the front.
I've tried all the slots and the only one that is a problem is the Front Panel Headphones, everything else it fine. I use my headphones a fair bit especially because the Mic is attached to them. So can anyone PLEASE tell me how to sort this out, how to stop it from thinking the headphones are always plugged in.
Is there a way I can stop Realtek from controlling the devices, is there an updated version of the manager, do I need better drivers?
Realtek says the Audio Driver version is: 6.0.1.5628
