Something just happened on a bad shut down

every time i try to open multiple views of my computer, or control panel, it opens to it self and there is only one window. Not 2...

there was a previous thread on this but it went to a dead - i.e. do you mean bla bla...

So.. what I mean is.. if i click on my computer and want to look at drive X
and then i click on my computer again ( open another window) and want to look at drive Y...

all i get is the original window of my computer. This happened once before and i thought i archived the solution in a folder - but i can;t find it so it must be on an old drive long ago.

Does this ring a bell to anyone?

Any Window.. control panel.. my computer... but not programs like IE or FF only my computer and control panel ( that i know of)...

and also if they do not open maximized.. always in a "smaller" window size.

OK.. anyone remember what this is all about?

Open My computer goto Tools menu then Folder Options -> General tab.
Look in the Browse folders area and make sure the open each folder in the same window is selected.
I can't open multiple control panels either, not that I ever need to.

I did notice that if you open my computer and dont open another drive before trying to open another My computer folder that it will just open the origional again.
