How to configure a USB modem in Ububtu

I have the ubuntu 10.4 the latest version

And I got a USB modem too(Dongle)

So I faced loads of problems installing it to my Ubuntu O/S

If any one know how to install a dongle or a USB modem to Ubuntu O/S

Please be kind enough enough to share it here

Not quite right. You bricked your PC. Millions of people quite happily install Linux; a few apparently find it beyond their ability.

I do agree with Pyroflea,, people who can't face obstacles easily give up with Linux.. You have to work with Linux to know how wonderful it is.

I'm using an Airtel connection. Its mobile broadband.
Its an Indian based company.
The dongle installation is embedded with the dongle.

Its nice if you guys can help me.
