Hey everyone, I havnt been around in awhile, id just like to say I hope everyone is doing well. Now onto my problem.
I was web browsing last night (Latest version of IE) and I was looking for World in Conflict sites to download the demo from, and one of the sites I clicked loaded laggy and I accidcently must have clicked on something because it took me to some other website (One of the ones that dosnt let you back out and then gives you some kind of we found spyware pop up). Well after I went to this site my entire computer has gone downhill. Whenever I try to go to websites now the website loads forever, and while its loading other websites open up in new tabs that im obviously being redirected to, some even have like search boxes that already have written in them "ie and firefox are automatically opening up new websites while im browsing". Sometimes a website will load and then while im reading whatever on it another tab will pop up with another redirected site.
This is what I have tried in response to the problem, I have free AVG always running, I ran that and it found 0 threats and just a bunch of typical cookie trackets etc so I cleaned those, it hasnt helped the problem, I downloaded Mozilla Firefox and the problem is even worse on there, pages seem to auto generate and open faster than they do in IE. Im really not sure what to do now, I have windows firewall enabled and I have a router I connect to the internet threw. I dont vist warez sites, I dont download turrents, my comps pretty clean and legit and I try to practice good websurfing habbits, I basically use it for creating music and playing the occasional game.
If anyone has any advice on this problem and can give me a hand I would appreciate it so much and I say thanks in advance. Toms Hardware has always done me good and its always my first stop when I have those strange rare problems I cant solve. I hope you all have a good holiday and thanks for reading my wall of text
I also found a few new entires in my startup list I googled them and I am only finding references to them as generic trojans on some site called pcthreat which I seem to think is some scamware to get rid of a virus it probably isntalled in the first place, heres the names of the startup items that have recently appeard.
Ok so obviously I know im infected with something, but with the antivirus not recognizing it how do I get rid of it, Trojans typically have dozens of files embeded in the registery etc? Would it be doing more harm than good to just delete these files and not the rest??
I ended up bumping into Malwarebytes Anti-Malware program and it helped, theres still two entrys on my startup list that I can uncheck and they dont auto recheck now, hopefully its just the entrys and the actual programs are gone, but my browser problems are also fixed.
