I just inherited a network and Im trying to figure out what the H#ll is going on with this.

We have about 50-100 PC's and some of the machines for whatever reason had/has static address applied to them. Iv'e been removing most of the static address that I have found. Here is the issue:

DHCP is issuing addresses. There are no duplicates listed in DHCP.

DNS in the Forward lookup zone has the devices listed with their Host (A) information. There are SOME ip addresses in DHCP that are not listed in DNS for whatever reason. (IM guessing because of the static information entered on that particular device.)

Also, some of the devices share the same IP addresses in the Forward lookup zone and in the Reverse lookup zone, any one particular device may have 2 - 3 different pointers.

Everything is setup in DNS and DHCP to update dynamically.

Example:

Device 700 has the IP of x.x.x.88. (He is the only one listed in DHCP with this address)

Device 700 in DNS (Forward Lookup zone) shows the HOST information with the addess of x.x.x.214

Now. In the Reverse Lookup Zone the x.x.x.88 address belongs to (Device 200) with the IP of x.x.x.111

:(

The x.x.x.214 address belongs to an entirely different machines (Device 500) and the x.x.x.111 is not even listed in the Reverse Lookup Zone :(

Any Ideas on how to get this back on track?
