The PSU fan in one of my old systems is starting to wail like a newborn baby so I figured I better toss in a new PSU.

Right now the system is a 3.0Ghz P4 w/ an 5200Ultra Video card.
(It acts as a file server.)

I expect to Mobo and CPU to a bottom-end C2D in a few months with a lower/mid-range graphics card such as a 7600GT or maybe a 7900GS.

I'm looking for an inexpensive PSU to put into this system.
This one looks like a nice deal................

Thoughts?
Better PSUs in this price range?

I calc'd your config to have less than +12v@15A demand post-upgrade, so that ATNG-made rosewill is not a bad choice - the ones that are made by solytech, youngyear, and wintech suck. Same with the ATNG-made coolmax units, the sirtec-made ones suck just as bad as the other rosewills

In all honesty this HiPro true 400w will work w/o an issue. It is the same as the cooler master eXtreme Power 430W (jonnuguru review link), I used several of the CM units and about a dozen of the Hipro units in budget game/web rigs very surprising for under $40. About half of them are running 24x7 as linux web/file servers. Worth a look.

The FSP is also a solid, reliable unit - I have one in my son's game rig.

I have also used these with similar budget requirements, and not had any issues:

ePOWER ZU-550W $55 w/ free shipping - high power, low cost, Gary has one... How bad can they be :p
XCLIO GOODPOWER 500W $50/$58 shipped - well-made CWT OEM
Enhance ENP-5246G 460W $54/$65 shipped

Haha, I wouldn't trust me. They're good budget PSU's, but they do run a little warm. They're actually a subsidiary of a larger, well-known PSU company but I forget which one. I think it might actually be FSP.
