Well I just finished my build this week and was installing drivers and all the xp pro updates... I noticed I had no sound on any start ups after install of all the drivers and THe I noticed any update that delt with audio issuses were not downloading.. So I checked device manager and sure enough I had a Microsoft Kernel Wave Audio Mixer with a yellow exlamation point so I tried to update drivers and nothing.. I Unistalled the driver and now it showes up as unknown driver but it's says the same thing Microsoft Kernel Wave Audio Mixer error installing code 28??? Anyone help me please!!!! Playing games wiht out sound is not ver much fun:(

Lots of people have had this problem although I have never heared a solution. Seen as you built it yourself then you should know what sound hardware you are running. Can you find a better driver?

I googled your MS kernel wave thing and found this http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa939386.aspx

I think you need Windows XP Embedded SP2 Feature Pack 2007

Well I did sorta figure out how or where it come from... I think it came from an Xp update that I installed... I restored my system and boom had sound.. Then I installed windows updates and gone again not sure what one it is right at this moment...

How long have you had SP2 installed? It could be this. It has known sound compatabillity issues. Try the link I gave above seems to contain the correct driver. Do a restore again and then change your auto updates so that you control what installs and do them one by one so you know which update it is.

I don't know what it was but I got hooked up with a copy of vista ultimate and I now have sound might have been the xp disc or might have been my Motherboard I don't know but I HAVE SOUND NOW!!!! GAME ON!!!!
