Please recommend best os for live usb

hello every one .

i have 8 gb flash drive.
i want to create a live usb just for run and booting from usb

purpose:
i want one os which can be go with me everywhere just from my pendrive (ya ill use that for recovery basis)

and on which i can install browsers and antivirus for recovery and rescue purpose.

i have tried 1 linux based os i.e. Knoppix

but that is not good after my some experiment.

please suggest me any Linux based os variant which is great for my purpose (ya which also support large variety for hardware driver).

i never use linux is except for above one.

So i am new in this. :eek:

If you're just using it for recovery and rescue, check out Trinity Rescue Kit.

If you want something else, you could look at Ubuntu or one of its many variants (Xubuntu or Lubuntu would use less memory), or something like Slax.

www.pendrivelinux.com has lots of information on USB based *nix distro's, and should have most of/all the information you need.

LOL.

FreeNAS is based off FreeBSD, so it's not even Linux, and unless you want to make a NAS (which the OP specifically said otherwise) then it's damn useless.
