cd rom + xp issues

i went to reformat

and pretty much my cd rom is missing, whenever i press the button, the disk tray doesnt eject, it doesnt show up on my computers, i switched power cables + ide cables and the jumpers are set up correctly and im pretty much stuck now.. i cant reformat without the cd rom

so just asking for some ideas

Goto my computer and see if it shows up there. If not try going to device manager and deleteing the drive and reboot. Assuming the drive isnt toast it should reinstall it and work again.

Does the light flash at all on boot? Can you eject the tray before windows loads? Does it find it in the BIOS? Try manual ejecting the drive when PC is powered off. Stick a paperclip in the little tiny emergeny eject hole. Leave tray open adn boot PC. Let us know what happens
