Trouble installing lenux using cd from magazine. It appears to have installed,

Installed linux mint from magazine cd. Install ended with sign in screen. Didn't get either user name or password and I don't recall being asked to create them. I am at a deadend. I have newer computer operating with vista. I am not a sophisticated computer person.
Please help me.

You should have been prompted to create a username and password, as well as a root password during the install.

Try logging in as "root", and either using no password, or using the admin password that you set during installation (if you did indeed do so).

Mint will have asked you to create a normal user account.

Ahh, I've never tried on Ubuntu, but I assumed that you could, as I've done so on other distributions. *Shrugs*
