In case you haven't already tried it, Since Windows NT (correct me if I'm wrong), CTRL+ALT+DEL brings up a set of commands for the advanced user to make use of. It's used as a fail-safe to Windows if malware, a misbehaving program or an unresponsive application were to take over the system and render it unstable. This function would allow the user to either edit which program is running and disable it from the source, log-off the system without touching the Start menu and many other useful commands.
