Okay, I am looking for an upgrade because I am having trouble running some of the games I have. (I am an all or nothing kind of guy)

I was looking at the cheapest available options available to me to get my FPS up.

My First option is to buy another ASUS x1950Pro Xfire from ZZF for $170. This option appeals to me because I have wanted to try a dual GPU ste-up for a while, and because most benchmarks I see show excellent scaling of the x1950Pro when in crossfire mode. Also, I love my ASUS card. It is VERY quiet , runs cool, and performs well.

The other option, is of course, an 8800GTS 320MB. ZZF has them for $270 shipped with some free games and such. This option appeals to me because I have never had a nVidia card, and I know the performance is good. I think power consumption will be less going this route as well.

My delima is, I am poor (not really).

I couldn't find any benchmarks to compare CF'd Pros vs a Single GTS, but from what I have seen is that they'll be about the same (FPS wise).

x1950Pro Pros:
-Cheap
-Crossfire is cool 8)
-Can sell one later and use the other for a HTPC, a spare rig, lanrig, or something
-Looks cool
-Good scaling

Cons:
-Cumbersome
-PowerConsumption
-Lack of support in some games
-Not DX10

8800GTS Pros:
-Power Consumption
-Less Cumbersome
-DX10
-Good performance
-Only one card

Cons:
-Already have xfire mobo
-MORE Expensive
-Only one card

I have already pretty much made my mind up, but wanted to see what you guys thought. I am really not partial to either brand, so let me know what you think.

P.S.- There is no way I am getting a 2900 or GTX
P.S.S- I game at 1680x1050

Also, with the 8800, I could probably get away with running the PSU that I already have. I had planned to get another soon anyway, but that is still something to take into consideration.

The xfire 1950pro's are only 30W more than the single 8800gts, not a huge amoint in it

While I couldn't find benchmarks to compare the 8800GTS to the CF'd Pros, I did find the 7950GX2 vs the CF'd Pros and they perform very similar. The 7950GX2 matches the GTS 320 performance in many games. Sometimes it wins by an FPS or so, sometimes it loses.

So the 8800GTS beats the CF'd Pros by a very slight margin in most games. (The Cf'd Pros do win a few)

Man, this is a tough decision. I may just tuff it out with the signle x1950Pro for now :-(

Thanks for the link. I can't believe that my Pro uses less power then my x850xt pe did. I had my x850 running on a cheap Ultra 400w PSU with 16A on the 12v rail... lol.
