Hi, I had a HP (P4 2.66g) that I had XP Pro SP3 installed on and the pc took a dump. I went and bought an Acer (AMD X2 4800) and put my hard drive from the hp in it, ran a repair off the xp cd. I had to run the recovery console and 'disable intelppm', now when it gets about 3/4 the way through the setup 'installing devices' it stops. It doesn't reset, or actually freeze the keyboard. I'm able to open/close the command prompt. the setup log shows something different everytime. how can I get it to fully upgrade?
